Thank you for taking the time to check out my Daycare! I hope that some of the questions you have can be answered here!

As a mother of two, I know how hard it can be finding a quality, trusting and loving daycare provider! I have set that as my standard for the past 10 years.

For any little one entering my care I follow a process of interviews with the whole family, as well as two playdates free of charge.

We have a clean, pet friendly home with two cats and a guinea pig. I recommend anyone applying for a space at daycare to be comfortable with all animals.

My home is located in a family friendly neighbourhood close to schools, parks, splash pads and more. I also have a locked and fully fenced yard with a "tree house", swings and tons of outdoor activities.

**Even though I abide by government regulations to the best of my ability, I am an unlicensed home daycare provider. Meaning I have no association with Wee Watch, Today's Family or other Government funded programs. I do not offer subsidy at this time.**
Below is an outline or my regulations and policies;

Payment Details:

Payments can be made either weekly, bi weekly or monthly. All payments are to be made prior to care. I accept check, cash or online e-transfer. Please be punctual with payments as late payments can compromise your child's position in daycare.

Cancellations:

Cancellations happen for many reasons, whether that be illness or emergency. Please be advised that the rate of care applies during these times, regardless of their absence.

Please notify me as soon as possible if any cancellations or charges in your child's schedule. I will do my best to accommodate changes as they come.

If at any time I need to close daycare on a short notice, I will contact families immediately and also post updates on my Daycare facebook page. I do not charge for any days in which I close down. For example, if I am ill, or one of my children require me to close I will reimburse or subtract that days payment on the next payment scheduled.

Vacation Time:

I allocate myself three weeks of vacation a year. During this time no payments are required and I do my best to give plenty of notice if I will be away. I do not offer back-up care through alternate providers, though I may be able to suggest alternate care in the area.

Your child also has the option to take two weeks of vacation time per calendar year, without compromising their position at daycare. I do ask that you give at least two months notice when scheduling these times. No payment is required during these two weeks (ten business days). Sorry, I do not allow vacation time to be translated into sudden cancellations. If you chose not to use this vacation time, it is not transferable into the following year.

Pick up/Drop off:

I kindly ask that you bring your child dressed and ready for the day in season-appropriate clothing.

Arrivals should be no later than 9:00 am unless a prior agreement has been made. If you are running late, a phone call or text goes a long way. I plan our day based on regular drop off times, and would not want anyone missing out on the fun.

***Please note*** Anyone outside of your immediate contacts will require photo identification and a pre-approved notice from a parent or guardian before I will allow them to take a child out of my care. This is not flexible.

Behaviour:

There are so many opportunities for a child to learn throughout the day - especially in moments of high emotion. I encourage all feelings and do my best to give children the skills to self-regulate and develop coping skills. I regularly educate myself in new methods of gentle parenting that I can apply to my daycare as well.

If you have more questions about my approach please feel free to ask!

Transportation:

I do not offer transportation for my daycare. If an incident shall occur and your child requires immediate medical attention I will call an ambulance without hesitation. I will call the emergency contacts as soon as possible. If the situation is non-threatening (example, your child is ill), someone on your contact list will be notifying and required to pick up the child as soon as possible.

We do often venture into the community via stroller, walking and even the city bus. If I am planning a bus trip I will notify parents ahead of time.

Illnesses: ***Please note that there are different protocols pertaining to the current COVID-19 pandemic

I will notify you or your emergency contact shall your child display any of the following symptoms:

- a fever of above 100 degrees

- vomiting

- diarrhea (more than two episodes)

- discharge from eyes or ears

- an unknown rash (diaper rash not included)

- chicken pox

- excessive coughing (disruptive to child's normal day)

- extreme lethargy

- Symptoms pertaining to Covid-19

If your child is ill PLEASE keep them home. I know it is difficult finding replacement care or calling sick for work, but be considerate of other children. If you have to give your child Advil or Tylenol throughout the night or in the morning - do not send them to daycare.

I understand all children pick up colds (runny nose, cough, etc), and do my best to ensure illness is not spread. I sanitize (with steam and chemical-free cleaners) toys on a regular basis and practice safe hand washing often, especially during flu season.

If a child becomes ill at daycare I will assess and begin contacting their parents/guardians. It is expected that a sick child is picked up as soon as possible, and will be in a comfortable rest area (within sight but out of the playroom), until pick up time.

Lice - If your child has lice (bugs or nits), they will not be allowed to attend. I do periodic checks and ask that  parents do the same (especially those with school-aged siblings). If a case of lice occurs I will personally examine your child and clear them for return. I will send a message to all families notifying them if someone at daycare has lice.

Medication:

I keep all medications in my home locked, as per safety protocol. If your child requires medication please let me know. I require full instruction before I will administer any medication. All medications must return home at the end of the day.

Naps/Rest Time:

I have a designated room for sleep during the day. Each child will be provided with either a cot or crib to sleep in, along with clean bedding. I keep the room quiet, cool, and clean. I do require all children have at least a "quiet time". Children of napping age can have one or two naps (I can work our schedule around either), and children outside napping age will have a "quiet bin" they can utilize for the afternoon nap period. Please see my daily routine schedule for times.

If your child is an infant it is important to remember I have a full house of children. Rocking/singing/walking your child to sleep is not possible. Setting good sleep habits before the beginning of daycare will make the transition much easier. If you have any concerns about sleep please feel free to talk directly to me :)

Smoking/Alcohol:

There is absolutely no smoking allowed in my home. No one who lives in my house smokes.

Any alcohol is 100% locked at all times and out of reach of little hands.
